Hello, my name is Mary Lasley. I am not only the nurse for the junior high, but also the high school. I do try my best to keep up with your children’s immunizations records and making sure they are current. I appreciate the efforts you parents and guardians do to help me maintain those records and get the updated vaccine information to me. It is very helpful to get a copy anytime your child gets a booster or new immunization added to their record. Many students return to me years later for copies of their immunization records and hope they are complete. Students entering into a health care field will often need to provide records for the college they will attend. I am planning to send out a copy of the records I have when your child graduates from the 12th grade, but just know that you may call for records at anytime. Not only do I maintain health records, but also I am responsible for vision/hearing and scoliosis screenings. Currently the state requires all new students to be screened in these areas. The 6th and 9th graders are screened for scoliosis and the 7th and 9th graders are screened for vision and hearing. I will screen at your request or a teacher’s request if they observe a need in a student. If your child does not have insurance and you would like information to apply for CHIPS or Medicaid I have that. I would like to make a request: if your child injures themselves at home please take care of this with your child at home whenever possible. It does get very busy in my office and I will tend to those who are injured at school first. Please know that I am here to help your child have a safe day at school and when an incident/accident occurs the office staff and myself will do our best to care for your child. Occasionally I am out of my office, but the secretaries and Mrs. Allen are on top of how I run the nurse’s office. Thank you for allowing me to take care of your children.
